Linked Learning Alliance Reflects on Juneteenth

The Linked Learning Alliance joins the nation in celebrating Juneteenth as a federal holiday for the first time. On this day, 157 years ago, the Emancipation Proclamation was enforced, freeing the last enslaved people in the United States. But we know the fight for true equity marches on.

For learning to be genuinely real and relevant for all young people, we must ensure practices and policies in and out of the classroom are rooted in community, equity, and justice. And the young people in Linked Learning and across the nation have taken up this mantle, calling for a commitment to anti-racism, justice, and reconciliation. Let us all heed their calls to reflect on our past, advocate for justice in the present, and plan for a better future together.
