Linked Learning Alliance Congratulates President Eloy Oakley Named Chancellor of the California Community Colleges

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Linked Learning Alliance congratulates Eloy Oakley, Superintendent-President of the Long Beach Community College District, who was selected as the new chancellor by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. President Oakley provides critical leadership to the Alliance as a member of the Linked Learning Alliance Council of Chancellors and Presidents.

“Whenever there is an opportunity to drive transformative change to strengthen student success, Eloy Oakley has been an unstoppable force. As president at Long Beach City College, he has made Linked Learning a centerpiece of college and career success for all students, and he’s been an inspiring advocate for scaling up quality Linked Learning throughout the state,”said Christopher Cabaldon, President of the Linked Learning Alliance. “Not only is he deeply committed to students and to shared economic prosperity for California and its communities, he moves complex systems toward real, powerful action. That’s a rare skill and passion, and the California Community Colleges is getting one of the nation’s great leaders as its Chancellor.”

Long Beach has been a long time champion in the expansion of Linked Learning opportunities for their students through the Long Beach Promise, a pivotal partnership amongst Long Beach Unified School District, California State University Long Beach and Long Beach Community College District to ease transitions between K-12, college, and career. As a result of their strong commitment, Long Beach has been selected as one of the Linked Learning Regional Hubs of Excellence.
