Congratulations to Linda Darling-Hammond on Appointment to Head CA State Board of Education
In his State of the State Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that he has appointed Linda Darling-Hammond to head California’s State Board of Education, and I am thrilled. Dr. Darling-Hammond is a brilliant education leader and an ally of Linked Learning. She is a longtime proponent of policies that expand college and career preparation for all students, and has conducted significant research on ways to improve systems that should prepare young people for both college and career success.
With Dr. Darling-Hammond at the helm of California’s State Board of Education, in collaboration with the newly elected Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, I am confident that the state will be taking huge strides to improve how we meet our state goal of preparing all students for college and career.
We at the Linked Learning Alliance look forward to working with Dr. Darling-Hammond to expand access to equitable and high-quality Linked Learning, and increasing young peoples’ success in postsecondary education and in the workforce.
