Gary Yee

Gary Yee has served in multiple capacities in the Oakland Unified School District as a teacher and administrator, as well as Acting Superintendent; he was elected to the School Board in 2002 and currently serves as President. He also served in higher education as Vice Chancellor for the Peralta Community College District and Faculty Chair of the Education Department at Holy Names University. He has also served as Director of the Oakland Education Cabinet, the Safe Passages Community Health Initiative, and as a consultant for the Career Ladders Project. In 2014, he joined fellow school board member David Kakishiba and several community-based organizations in passing an Oakland Parcel Tax focused on a fundamental change in Oakland's high schools, with an aim toward excellence and equity.
